What is Swimming?

Swimming is a sport which involves the movement of arms and legs through water. It is an individual or team racing sport which has different styles namely breaststroke, freestyle, butterfly, backstroke etc. This sport can be a fun exercise and it works all the muscles simultaneously and builds up stamina. It needs continuous practice and one has to go through several stages of training to master it. The goal is to improve speed and compete with fellow swimmers. Swimming each stroke requires a set of specific techniques. Apart from the fact that the swimmer is prone to many injuries, swimming provided multiple health benefits.

There are several regulations on what type of swimsuit, jewelry, cap and injury tape that are allowed for each individual stroke. One has to comply with the same. Four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. They will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, butterfly, freestoke and backstroke with the proper required techniques. It is such an activity that can be done by most people throughout their life which provides several me tak and bodily health benefits all while being a good recreational activity. It builds endurance, cardiovascular fitness and muscle strength.

To be a swimmer, you need few qualities that you have to develop in order to master the sport. Developing good qualities and working on them will help you become a better person and also a better swimmer. Apart from being physically fit, one has to inculcate certain qualities and develop them over time in order to excel in this sport as one cannot become a professional swimmer overnight. How can you start as a Swimmer?

If you know you have got the right skills for this sport, its better to start working on it as soon as possible and start with your training, which will usually be done on a daily occurrence. You will have to refine your training, build strength, increase your stamina and work on small parts of a swimming race such as tumble turns and diving. You have to establish yourself on the swimming scene through proper planning and consistency.Swimming does not require academic requirements, it is a game of pure talent, determination and discipline. You will have to develop your hobby by joining a swimming club and competing in swimming galas. As you progress in these events you can eventually enter national swimming competitions.

What are the challenges of being a Swimmer?

Taking up swimming as a profession comes with numerous challenges. Beginners may develop the fear of open water. Some people may start having health issues like pain in the shoulder and also breathing issues may start at a later stage. Being tired on account of the training and workouts can be a challenge for many of the aspiring swimmers. Another challenge is creating a balance between swimming and all other activities in life. Prioritizing the sport may cause problems in family and friendly relations which one has to resolve with patience.Also professional swimmers are not paid, they make money through sponsorships and other ways. This may also turn out to be a challenge. One must deal with all these challenges patiently and try their best to overcome them.
