What is Film Directing?

Film Making is the art of making a film, We can also refer to it as the process of making films to convey stories that are never heard and even never imagined. Filmmaking is a process of different steps that includes an initial story, idea, screenwriting, casting, shooting, sound recording and pre-production, editing, and screening the final result. Filmmaking is often considered as business, but there are examples where people in this profession, highlight topics that are not usually discussed in the current society.

Apart from the glamorous history of filmmaking, it is an extremely tiresome job for someone who does not love doing It. The process of choosing the right cast, the right cinematographer depending on the type of film, the right sound editor, and also many other factors. Filmmaking in a shell means a lot more than just making films, it includes your communication and analyzing skills, knowing what type of audience is going to watch and also communicating at your best to the members of the film team. There will be a million problems in filmmaking but for a person who loves the journey of filmmaking, its a blessing.

What are the qualities of a Director?

The problems faced by a director during the making of a film, it takes a lot of things than just the interest in the profession, as you go deeper into the profession of film making you soon realize, that it demands a lot from you. • "

One must go for a film with an open mind; a film best impacts you when your mind is a blank page to the film.

    -Anurag Kashyap

  • "

If you ask a filmmaker to analyse his own film, it would take three or four years to do that, honestly. Because when you make a film, you have to be convinced about it. You are married to that film for a year.

    -Mani Ratnam

  • "

The only time you do not get nervous is when you are making your first film. At that time, just the joy of making a movie is so high that you do not care; you are happy to have finally made it. It is only later that you want your film to be seen and appreciated by people.

    -Rajkumar Hirani

  • "

It is very difficult for anyone to predict how a film will do. It depends on so many things: the mood of the audience, the state of their mind at the time, how they have reacted to the whole treatment.

    -Sanjay Leela Bhansali

How can you start as a Director?

Most of the directors in the industry have a bachelor's or master's degree in film making. More and more new institutes are opening in the country that provides a bachelor's and a master's degree. One of the most famous and prestigious institutes in India is the FTII(Film and Television Institute of India), You have to prepare for an exam to enter in the FTII, for other institutes also you will have to give an exam. Most of the people even after getting into pretty good film institutes, struggle to start or make their first film. As a director, as a filmmaker, you will have to approach writers, producers, and other essential parts of the team.

What are the challenges of being a Director?

The journey to be a Director starts from getting an admission to a film institute. Many think that not getting into a good institute kind of puts off the chances of becoming a good director. What they don't realize is that this is not a market where your CV is your admit card. As long as you have that convincing ability, the institute doesn't matter, only the passion matters. After getting a degree from an institute, what most newcomers face is that chance to make their first movie. As a newcomer, you'll have to understand to create your own value in the industry, you will have to approach to anyone who can be an asset for you in the future.
