  • What according to you is the importance of Youtube? How did it change lives today?

  • What odd jobs did you do before you began to make YouTube videos?

  • From plain and sauve suits to bright colours, how do you manage to strike a balance between the two?

I frankly don’t know which outfit to wear on a particular occasion. I wear what makes me happy and comfortable. There have been times when I have attended a wedding in a hoodie just because I looked fine that day! But, of course, there are days when I want to dress up for the occasion. I love wearing suits too, so that’s how I strike the balance between the two. Some days, I’m a hoodie guy and on others, I sport suits.

  • Do you like to follow fashion trends or do you enjoy it more when it defines who you are?

The only trend I followed growing up was my father’s dressing sense. A checkered shirt and jeans/pyjama is what does the job for me. My personal style is mostly casual yet polished. I love wearing solid colours and hoodies. In my opinion, clothes never define someone, it depends on who’s wearing what and how they carry it. Also, fashion means different things to different people and there are multiple examples of that, like Ranveer (Singh) and Deepika (Padukone), they’re both stylish but have contrasting fashion choices. I like clothes that mirror who I am and how I feel. I’m not someone who will wear something just because it’s trendy and everyone’s sporting it

  • Five must-have pieces in the wardrobe for everybody?

For me, basics are everything; I’m not someone who’s fancy. I love my basic white shirt with jeans and shoes. Thus, five must-have pieces in anyone’s wardrobe should be a pair of jeans, a denim jacket, solid colour t-shirts, a pyjama and perfume

  • You really enjoy layering your graphic tees. Any tips to keep in mind?

I certainly do! Layering with t-shirts is pretty basic; one can throw on a bomber jacket or wear a shirt beneath the T-shirt. You could also put together a semi-formal outfit by wearing a blazer over the graphic t-shirt.

  • Styling long hair is not an easy task, how can one do it? You are also known for playing with hats and caps, how can one team it with their outfits?

My hair is naturally straight. For occasions that hold importance, I try different hairstyles for which I’m lucky to have people help style my annoyingly silky straight hair. It’s super easy to play around with hats, it’s not rocket science at all. You can wear a cap with anything casual, like t-shirts, hoodies, fun jackets. There are also hats you can style with formal outfits that look classy and dapper.

  • How do you balance between making music and creating content for your channel?

Easy, when I make videos or script, and I need to re power myself, I sing, or play music and vice versa. I keep an instrument next to me in my room, to help with whenever inspiration strikes.

  • What's next for Bhuvan? More music? What's your plan for 2020? You have earlier said that you'd like to do a Bollywood film. Is something on the cards?

I have been working on a big project since a few months now which I’m waiting to let out in the world, more music yes but nothing I can talk about right now. Bollywood isn’t on the cards right now, but I would definitely love to act in a film.

  • As a YouTuber and social media star, your life is out there for everyone to see, which also makes you extremely relatable. Where do you draw the line, in terms of sharing personal content or experiences?

My content is based on a middle-class family, and exaggerating them and their experiences. It’s obviously inspired from someone somewhere, people I meet, watch and sometimes fictional, but these are all characters who exist I’m sure, that’s why people find them relatable. I don’t share a lot on my family and personal life because I’m any way out there, making content, constantly exposed to the camera, the internet and I don’t want that for my family. Some things are private and too important to be shared with the world and that’s how I like to keep it.

  • What's your message to aspiring YouTubers?

I’d like to tell aspiring content creators to keep making content because only then you learn. If you expect overnight success and virality, you’re in it for the wrong reasons because success has no shortcuts. It takes hard work, determination and consistency. So, keep doing what you do and hope for the best.

  • What are some of the content clichés that we need to move on from this decade?

We really need to get rid of the risky challenges which go viral on social media. Many of them are fatal and completely unnecessary, they are not even entertaining.

  • Apart from music and comedy, you're also known for your style. What does fashion mean to you? What's your go-to outfit?

Fashion is what’s trending and style is personal, so you can be stylish without being trendy. My style is casual comfortable and classic, so a fresh crisp shirt with a pair of jeans, sneakers and a bomber jacket or a hoodie. I’m a basic guy when it comes to fashion but I also like to dress for the occasion, occasionally (laughs).

  • Can you express your thoughts about the WEF and what did you expect from the same?

I expected awareness from the WEF 2020. To be honest, I have arrived with minimum background research but I’m attending some sessions, learning more about the forum and taking about it back home with me to share it with everyone else.

  • How important is it for you — as a comedian — to have a conversation around the subjects of empowerment, education and water conversation?

It’s very important to me personally to discuss subjects such as water conservation, girl child education, women safety etc because these are issues that I feel for strongly. My content is definitely crafted with satire to appeal to my viewers every now and then. I make a video on a subject that is important to talk about, to bring notice to.

  • How would you inculcate what you have witnessed at the forum in your videos when it comes to the subject of girl child education?

I prefer giving out social messages through humour and I’ll be doing just that in my own way. I’ll be vlogging the whole experience here in my style.

  • In a recent statement, you said, “I’m looking forward to meeting the world and industry leaders for open discussions on important subjects.” Is there any particular leader you are looking to have or have had conversations with?

I really wish to have a discussion with Mr Shekhar Gupta. I would want him to summarise the entire agenda of the forum for my audience in the simplest way possible.

  • Comedy is like any other art form where apart from the laughs, it also is a mirror of society. How do you manage to keep things funny yet relevant?

Like you rightly said, comedy is also a mirror of society. Whatever issues, causes, or events. I think need to be discussed, they reflect in my videos, in my content on social media. I hope to reach out to my viewers, who are largely teens and young adults — who are leading movements, bringing about change in our country and around the world.

  • Your thoughts on the theme, “You Need Youth: Beacons to a Brighter”

The youth is the future. We have access to everything; we have a voice, the passion and most importantly, the curiosity.

  • Can you talk about the importance of satire in a time like today especially?

Satire is the best form of art. It targets issues in the wisest way possible and, to be honest, we all need to have a sense of humour in times like the present.
